Families and next-of-kin of 18 deceased police officers in Kebbi State have received a total of N11.4 million in insurance benefits under the Nigeria Police Group Life Assurance (GLA) and Group Personal Accident (GPA) schemes.
The benefits were presented on Wednesday, September 17, 2026, by the Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bashir Usman, announced the payment in a statement issued on behalf of the commissioner.
The command said the disbursement was part of measures by the Nigeria Police Force to support families of personnel who died in the course of serving the country.
Hadejia acknowledged the sacrifices made by the deceased officers and said the insurance payments were intended to provide financial assistance to their families.
He urged the beneficiaries to view the payment as an indication of the commitment of the police leadership to the welfare of serving personnel and their families.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, the Force Management Team and the Kebbi State Police Command for facilitating the release of the benefits.
The payment is part of similar insurance interventions made for families of deceased and injured police personnel in other parts of the country.
