The Federal Government is set to launch the African Global Festival Nigeria, known as Aglofest, in October 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s cultural ties with Africa and the global Black diaspora.
The festival, approved by President, will be implemented through a public-private partnership involving government institutions, businesses and international participants.
Aglofest is expected to provide a platform for cultural exchange while promoting trade, investment and business partnerships between Nigeria, other African countries and the wider diaspora.
The initiative will also highlight Nigeria’s cultural heritage, tourism attractions and creative industries, with opportunities expected for investors, entrepreneurs and businesses.
Among the major activities planned for the festival is the Black Diaspora Economic Forum, which will focus on trade and investment opportunities.
The programme will also feature cultural presentations showcasing African heritage and creativity, alongside the Renewed Global Hope and Peace Concert, aimed at promoting peace and unity through music and entertainment.
According to the statement, preparations for the October launch are already underway, with consultations involving government agencies, private-sector partners, international participants and cultural organisations.
The government said the festival is expected to deepen diaspora engagement while opening up opportunities in tourism, the creative economy, trade and investment.
