The Kebbi State Police Command has urged parents and guardians to prevent their children from participating in unlawful gatherings along major roads, warning that offenders risk arrest and prosecution.
The command specifically cautioned residents against obstructing traffic on the Kebbi–Sokoto Federal Highway, stressing the need to maintain the free movement of people and goods.
The warning follows an attack by suspected Lakurawa bandits on a construction site along the Sokoto–Badagry Road, which reportedly claimed the lives of four workers.
In a statement issued on Friday, the police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Muhammed Hadejia, had called on residents to conduct themselves responsibly and respect the rights of other road users.
Hadejia urged parents and guardians to discourage their children and wards from joining gatherings along roadsides without legitimate reasons.
He warned that anyone found obstructing traffic or engaging in unlawful activities along the highway would be arrested and prosecuted.
The command reiterated its commitment to maintaining public order, protecting lives and property, and ensuring the uninterrupted movement of motorists and commuters across the state.
