The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, has commissioned a newly constructed office facility at Olorunda to strengthen its operations and deepen community engagement in the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
The facility was provided by the Orunda of Olorunda, Oba Joshua Olusegun Phillips-Ogunsola, and commissioned on Tuesday, October 7, 2026, as part of efforts to enhance the presence of the anti-narcotics agency within the community.
The ceremony was attended by traditional rulers and representatives of security agencies, including the representative of the Commissioner of Police, CSP Oladipupo Bakre, Divisional Police Officer, Olorunda; the Officer Commanding the Army Base, Olorunda, MW Shuaibu U; and other security stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Oba Phillips-Ogunsola said he provided the facility because of his commitment to the campaign against drug abuse and his desire to support the NDLEA in protecting residents from the dangers associated with illicit drugs.
The traditional ruler commended the Ogun State Command for its dedication to combating drug abuse and trafficking, stressing the need for communities to provide necessary support to security agencies operating within their domains.
In his remarks, the NDLEA Ogun State Commander, Commander Tijjani Rabe, thanked the traditional ruler and people of Olorunda for providing the facility, describing the gesture as a demonstration of community ownership and support for drug law enforcement.
Rabe said the Command would sustain effective operations in the area and work to protect residents from the consequences of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
He stressed that the fight against illicit drugs could not be won by the NDLEA alone, calling for continued cooperation among security agencies, traditional institutions and members of the public.
The commander also emphasised the importance of timely information sharing and coordinated action among stakeholders in achieving effective drug control.
Rabe disclosed that NDLEA officers had already been deployed to the area and charged them to maintain professionalism and discipline in carrying out their duties.
The event featured the hoisting of the Nigerian and NDLEA flags, as well as the presentation of an Award of Appreciation and a War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) banner to Oba Phillips-Ogunsola in recognition of his support for the campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
