ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged burglary and theft of pumping machines at Ajambata, Sokoto Road, Atan-Ota, Ogun State.
The suspects, identified as Monday and Vovo, were apprehended on Monday, October 5, 2026, following a distress call from members of the community who reportedly caught them with pumping machines suspected to have been stolen from a burgled location.
According to a statement issued by the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and made public by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, operatives on patrol quickly responded to the distress call and moved to the scene, where the two suspects were arrested.
The suspects were subsequently taken to the Atan Area Command of the Corps for preliminary interrogation. During questioning, Monday and Vovo, both identified as natives of Cotonou, Benin Republic, gave accounts of their activities in the area. Monday reportedly said he had lived in Atan for several years, while Vovo disclosed that he arrived in the community a few months ago.
Monday reportedly admitted that although he did not personally accompany Vovo to remove the pumping machines, he usually assisted in finding buyers for stolen items. The account was said to have been corroborated by Vovo.
Two pumping machines were recovered from the suspects and taken to the Area Command. Three individuals later came forward to identify and claim the recovered items, according to the Corps.
The suspects have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Atan Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, a resident, Mr. Kamal Oshi, expressed appreciation to the So-Safe Corps for its prompt intervention, leading to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of the allegedly stolen property. Ganzallo reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly provide security agencies with useful information that could assist in preventing and combating crime.
