Tony Elumelu’s stake in Seplat Energy surged by ₦131.5 billion in a single trading session as the oil and gas company’s share price climbed to ₦16,000 on Thursday.
Seplat shares gained ₦1,092.20, representing a 7.33 per cent increase, lifting the value of the 120.4 million shares held by Elumelu’s Heirs Group to approximately ₦1.93 trillion.
The latest gain takes the value of the stake from about ₦1.79 trillion recorded the previous day.
Heirs Energies and Heirs Holdings collectively hold 20.07 per cent of Seplat, making the group the company’s largest disclosed shareholder, with Elumelu as the ultimate beneficial owner.
The shares were acquired from French energy company Maurel & Prom on December 31, 2025, for approximately $496 million. Based on Thursday’s closing price, the holding is now valued at about $1.45 billion.
The increase has significantly boosted the value of Elumelu’s listed interests on the Nigerian Exchange.
His major disclosed NGX holdings, including Seplat, UBA, Transcorp, United Capital and Africa Prudential, are now worth about ₦2.42 trillion.
Seplat accounts for roughly 80 per cent of that combined value, underscoring the growing contribution of the energy company to Elumelu’s listed portfolio.
Since June 30, when Seplat shares traded at ₦11,363.90, the value of the same 120.4 million-share holding has increased by approximately ₦557 billion.
The latest rally therefore represents another significant increase in the paper value of Elumelu’s investment in Seplat, with the energy stock driving almost all of the day’s gain across his major listed holdings.Seplat Rally Adds ₦131.5bn to Elumelu’s Stake in One Day
