Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has pledged stronger collaboration with security agencies to protect vulnerable communities following the deadly attack on Ayilamo in Logo Local Government Area.
The attack claimed the lives of several residents, including four police officers who were killed while carrying out their duties.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia described the incident as a disturbing reflection of the persistent security challenges confronting communities in the area.
The governor expressed condolences to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, over the death of the officers, whom he described as having paid the supreme price in service to the country.
Alia also commended the Department of State Services (DSS), particularly its personnel in Benue and Nasarawa states, for the swift operation that resulted in the arrest of three suspects allegedly linked to the attack.
According to the governor, the arrests could help security agencies uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
He assured residents of Ayilamo, Logo and other communities facing security threats that his administration would continue working with security agencies to strengthen protection across the state.
Alia further assured the people that his government would not abandon communities affected by insecurity, promising continued efforts to restore safety and confidence among residents.
