Two persons abducted by terrorists along the Anka–Gadan Manya Road in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State have been rescued by troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The victims were rescued after troops responding to an attack on two motorcycle travellers on September 4, 2026, forced the terrorists to flee the scene.
According to military authorities, the troops were on routine patrol in the area when they sighted armed terrorists attacking the two travellers.
The soldiers immediately moved towards the scene, prompting the terrorists to escape into the surrounding terrain and abandon their victims.
The two abducted persons were subsequently rescued by the troops without further harm.
Following the incident, security forces intensified patrols and other operations across the area in a bid to restrict the movement of terrorists and other criminal elements.
The military said the increased security presence was also aimed at strengthening the protection of major routes and safeguarding residents and road users from further attacks and abductions.
It added that the sustained patrols were part of ongoing efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, protect communities and restore freedom of movement across affected areas of Zamfara State.
