Ogun State has clinched two awards at the GIZ Agricultural Finance (AgFin) Closeout Dinner and Award Ceremony, emerging among the states recognised for outstanding commitment to the institutionalisation and effective implementation of agricultural finance initiatives.
The awards were presented during the GIZ AgFin Closeout Dinner and Award Ceremony, where Ogun State was acknowledged for its active participation, effective implementation of AgFin modalities and commitment to strengthening agricultural financing systems.
The Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Agriculture and Food Security represented the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, at the ceremony and received the awards on behalf of the state government.
The recognition, according to the programme organisers, reflects Ogun State’s efforts in building stronger relationships with financial institutions and creating a more supportive environment for farmers seeking access to agricultural finance.
Through the AgFin Programme, the state has worked with GIZ to equip farmers, financial institutions and agricultural extension personnel with the knowledge, tools and capacity required to improve access to finance and strengthen agricultural value chains across Ogun.
The development is also seen as part of the administration’s broader efforts to transform agriculture into a more productive and commercially viable sector, particularly by addressing some of the financial barriers confronting farmers and agribusinesses.
Under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State has continued its collaboration with development partners, financial institutions and other stakeholders to strengthen agricultural financing mechanisms and promote sustainable opportunities for farmers across the state.
The two awards therefore represent more than recognition of past achievements, as they underscore Ogun State’s commitment to building stronger agricultural financing systems that can support farmers, attract investment, create economic opportunities and contribute to the overall growth of the state’s agricultural sector.
