The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates to carefully review their personal information before applying for corrections under its reopened National Identification Number (NIN) alignment service.
The board said the service provides eligible candidates with another opportunity to resolve discrepancies between their JAMB registration details and records held by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
JAMB announced the reopening on Friday through its official X handle, @jamb_hq, stressing that the opportunity was a one-time exercise and that submitting an application did not guarantee approval.
The examination body advised candidates to correct any errors in their NIN records through NIMC before seeking alignment with their JAMB biodata.
It urged applicants to check all their personal details and select every necessary correction in a single submission to avoid mistakes that could affect their applications.
The discrepancies may involve names, dates of birth and other personal information, subject to the fields eligible for correction under the exercise.
According to JAMB, the application procedure, eligible correction fields, verification process and other requirements are explained in a special episode of its JAMB Explained video guide released alongside the announcement.
Candidates were advised to study the guide and follow the prescribed steps before submitting their applications.
The board further cautioned applicants against providing incomplete or inaccurate information, noting that all applications would undergo verification before approval.
Candidates requiring changes to their NIN records were also advised to use official NIMC channels and ensure that the corrections had been fully updated before proceeding with JAMB.
The reopening of the service is aimed at improving the accuracy and consistency of candidates’ personal information used in the tertiary admission process.
JAMB urged applicants to obtain updates only through its official website, verified social media platforms and other authorised communication channels, warning against relying on third-party agents.
Candidates are encouraged to consult the official announcement and accompanying video for the exact application procedure and requirements before applying.
