The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has cautioned Nigerians against a fraudulent website falsely announcing the commencement of a fresh nationwide online voter registration exercise.
The Commission, in a public notice issued on Friday, said the fake platform was circulating online with claims that nationwide online voter registration would run from September 28 to October 27, 2026.
INEC stressed that the website has no connection with the Commission and urged members of the public to disregard the information.
It also warned Nigerians against clicking on the fraudulent link or providing personal details through the platform, noting that such information could be stolen and misused.
According to INEC, the Continuous Voter Registration exercise ended on July 26, 2026, contrary to claims that a new nationwide online registration exercise is currently underway.
The electoral body advised Nigerians to verify information relating to voter registration and other electoral activities through its official website and other recognised communication channels.
