A new grassroots political group, the Ibara Movement for Senator Yayi, has been launched in Abeokuta, Ogun State, with a commitment to mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The movement was inaugurated in Ibara as a grassroots mobilisation platform aimed at bringing together supporters and residents across communities to canvass support for Adeola and promote his governorship bid. Adeola is the APC’s candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
The development was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary of the association, Lika Adenike Bamgboye, and made available to journalists in Abeokuta.
Speaking at the launch, the Acting Chairman of the association, Hon. Chief Modeeu Olamilekan Ojediran, popularly known as Embassy and Akinrogun of Ibara Kingdom, said the objective of the movement was to strengthen support for Yayi at the grassroots and ensure that the campaign reaches communities, wards and polling units across Abeokuta and beyond.
Ojediran said members of the movement would intensify consultations and mobilisation activities across the area as the 2027 election approaches.
He expressed confidence in the ability of the movement to build a strong support base for the APC candidate, adding that the group would work with party stakeholders and other support organisations to promote Adeola’s candidacy.
The acting chairman also urged residents who identify with the movement to participate actively in the political process and contribute to its grassroots mobilisation efforts.
The Ibara Movement further pledged to mobilise its constituency in support of Senator Yayi in the 2027 governorship election, saying its activities would continue until election day.
The launch comes amid increasing grassroots mobilisation activities in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election, with various support groups emerging to organise political structures around Adeola’s candidacy.
