Direct air connectivity between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia is set to increase from December 1, 2026, with the commencement of flights from Abuja to Jeddah.
Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Mohammed Al-Balawi, announced the development during the celebration of the country’s 96th National Day in Abuja.
The new route is expected to strengthen people-to-people connections between both countries and facilitate travel for business, investment and other purposes.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the Federal Government was focused on creating an enabling environment for investors to tap into opportunities across Nigeria’s various sectors.
Idris said the government’s efforts were aimed at unlocking the country’s economic potential as part of its broader ambition of building a $1 trillion economy.
The Minister highlighted the importance of Nigeria’s relationship with Saudi Arabia, particularly in areas where increased economic cooperation could support investment and development.
The commencement of the Abuja-Jeddah route is expected to provide another channel for stronger commercial and diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
