Ogun CP Backs POWA Industrial Hub, Urges Women To Create Jobs, Fight Crime
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has urged the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) to transform its Skills Acquisition Centre into an industrial hub capable of creating jobs, empowering women and contributing to crime prevention in the state.
Ojajuni made the call on Monday, October 19, 2026, when he led members of the Command’s Management Team on an inspection visit to the POWA Skills Acquisition Centre at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The Commissioner, who was received by the Acting Chairperson of POWA, Mrs Bolanle Adeoye, and members of the association’s executive, inspected facilities at the centre, including the photography and make-up studios.
The centre was established to provide POWA members and members of the public with practical vocational skills, promote entrepreneurship and create sustainable livelihood opportunities, particularly for women and youths.
Ojajuni urged POWA to pursue partnerships with government agencies, private organisations, manufacturers, vocational institutions and development partners to expand the centre’s operations and turn it into a viable industrial hub.
He said the initiative should go beyond skills acquisition to include enterprise development, productive ventures and employment generation, stressing that beneficiaries should be equipped to become self-reliant and contribute to the state’s economic development.
According to him, economic empowerment and productive engagement are important complements to conventional policing, as sustainable livelihoods could help address some socio-economic factors associated with crime.
The Commissioner also noted that the centre could support public safety through crime-prevention awareness, community engagement and the provision of opportunities for women and youths to engage in legitimate and productive activities.
Ojajuni commended Adeoye and the POWA Ogun State executive for their commitment to human capital development and pledged the Command’s support for the growth and expansion of the centre.
He further assured the association of the Command’s readiness to facilitate strategic collaborations and partnerships that would strengthen the centre’s contribution to empowerment, crime prevention and community safety.
The visit, according to the Command, underscores its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote economic empowerment, strengthen community resilience and contribute to sustainable public safety across Ogun State.
