The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E. A. Adeboye, has spoken about how he expects his life to end, saying he would die peacefully after attending a church service.
Adeboye made the remarks on Thursday during the Holy Communion Service, where he reflected on death, eternal life and the need for Christians to remain prepared for eternity.
The cleric said that if Jesus Christ does not return before his death, he expects to die on a Sunday after participating in a church service.
According to him, he would seek permission to preach on that Sunday before returning home to eat pounded yam, go to sleep and wake up in heaven.
Adeboye used the reflection to encourage Christians to examine their lives and make necessary changes while they still have the opportunity.
He said believers should not live in fear of death but should aspire to “sleep in the Lord,” urging those who have not accepted Jesus Christ to surrender their lives to Him.
The RCCG leader also called on Christians to retrace their steps where necessary and amend their ways, stressing the importance of living in readiness for eternity.
He urged his listeners to make their relationship with Jesus Christ a priority and strive to live according to their faith.
