The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reinstated Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru as its State Chairman, ending the interim leadership arrangement that followed his suspension in June.
Kana-Zuru’s reinstatement was approved by the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) at its meeting on October 1, 2026.
The State Publicity Secretary, Isah Abubakar Assalafi, disclosed the decision on Thursday at a press conference held at the party’s secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.
Assalafi said the SWC resolved to revoke the suspension placed on Kana-Zuru on June 20, 2026, under Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026, and directed him to immediately resume office.
Following the suspension, Adamu Mudi Augie, who is the party’s Deputy State Chairman, had been appointed Acting State Chairman.
However, the latest resolution brings the temporary arrangement to an end, with Augie directed to return to his substantive position as Deputy State Chairman.
“Accordingly, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie shall cease to act as Acting State Chairman and shall resume his substantive office as Deputy State Chairman,” Assalafi said.
The party also ordered the immediate transfer of all official records and documents relating to the State Chairman’s office to Kana-Zuru.
According to Assalafi, the state secretary has been directed to communicate the SWC resolution to relevant party organs, including the APC national headquarters.
Kana-Zuru has since resumed the functions, powers and responsibilities of the Kebbi APC State Chairman with immediate effect.
